A large offshore oil platform needs to transmit signals between different devices on the platform

  • 21

A large offshore oil platform needs to transmit signals between different devices on the platform with high reliability and low latency. However, they are unable to cover the platform with their existing Wi-Fi connections.

=> What is the best solution for the platform in this scenario?

♦ Relevant knowledge

The technology of wireless communication has advanced rapidly over the last couple of years and is now one of the main kinds of media transmissions from one device to the next. With no wires or electronic conductors wireless communications permits information to be transferred electromagnetic waves. The various forms of wireless communication are radio broadcast (RF) as well as infrared (IR) microwave, satellite and Bluetooth. Cell phones that are mobile, GPS, Wi-Fi, and cordless phones are devices that utilize wireless transmission to transfer information and data.

The recommendation for the vast oil platform that can send signals across different devices that are on the platform, that have the highest reliability as well as very low latency is The most effective solution will be for them to set up an exclusive 5G connection to the web platform .

    • We are now informed that they’re not in a position to cover the platform using the Wi-Fi networks they currently have.

Now, they require an internet connection with greater reliability and lower latency.

    • Today, lower latency simply means that there is no or little delay between making and receiving data. This means that it is able to process a large amount of data in a very short delay. This means it is very quick and effective connection.
    • As they’re currently connected to Wi-Fi this means that they require a device with more rapid speed.

Wi-Fi can operate at the rate of 2.4GHz and a speeds of whereas the one of 5G is between 30 and 30 GHz.

    • Additionally, latency of 4G Wi-Fi ranges from 50 to 50 milliseconds whereas 5G latency is approximately 1 millisecond.
    • Furthermore also, 5G’s rate of 5G could reach as high as 20GB per second, which is about 20 times faster than the speed of 4G.

So, 5G is much faster and also has less delay as 4G Wi-Fi. Therefore, the most effective solution is to set up a 5G private connection to the platform.

If you have an oil platform of a significant size located offshore , which needs to send signals between devices located on the platform, using high-reliability and with low latency, they must be able to:

    • The most secure way to transfer signals between devices running the platform that is reliable with low latency to utilize an even more powerful WiFi connection, and if you can, use an efficient dual-band router rather than a single-band router.
    • An Wireless range extender is a solution in the event that the devices aren’t being able to connect to the WiFi connection that is currently being used.
    • A speedier optical fiber broadbandconnection can also help to reduce the issue by increasing the bandwidth.

If you are using 3G or 4G, refer to higher connection is 5G. it works for me in this problem. Just try it

My advice for your question related to wifi communications is High reliability Wi-Fi connections are due to its use of High Frequency (HFC) WiFi. High frequency Wifi networks don’t need to be regularly rerun therefore it is not necessary to retry the Wifi is simply running all of the process. If you require the internet to access a PC or your Wifi is run twice daily because of an update, you may be able to get a higher-quality wifi network on the device that you connect to.

I also agree with this solution. Just want to give a reference where you could study more about how to build it with your own data center: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_center

My suggestion is: Developing brand new sites for 5G that connect the shore and the platform
