Enamine is an organic chemical with an attached double bond in the place of the nitrogen atom. Therefore, the single pair of electrons that reside on the nitrogen atom could dissociate to form the double bonds of Enamine. Enamines are made by the condensation reaction of an amine secondary/tertiary and aldehyde/ketone.

Draw the major product of the following three-steps synthesis.Draw the major product of the following three-steps synthesis.

Ketone reacts in a reaction with secondary amines to produce a,b-unsaturated aminos (enamines). In the presence of an acid (HO), cyclohexanone reacts to pyrrolidine to form 1-(cyclohex-1en-1y)pyrrolidine (enamine). The reaction is shown below: pyrrolidine cyclohexanone 1-(cyclohex-1-en-1-y)pyrrolidine (enamine) In the second step, the enamine acts as a nucleophile which attacks on the electrophilic but-3-en-2-one to form the following product but-3-en-2-one
In the final step, the enolate anion is protonated and imine is hydrolysed in presece of an acid Ho to form 2-(3-oxobutyl)cyclohexanone. 3. Ho H20 Hydrolysis occurs to form keotone from the imine. This is shown below: NH 2-3-oxobutyl)cyclohexanone
