Polarity

The polarity of an element is the condition of the compound that has negative and positive charges. The polarity of a substance depends on the electronegativities of elements within the compound.

Dipole Moment

It is used by dipole moments to determine the covalent molecules’ polarity. The dipole moment unit is called Debye. In a molecular, polarity is due to the difference in the electronegativity of two molecules. The one with the higher electronegativity is able to acquire a partial negative charge whereas the one with lower electronegativity possesses the partial positive charge.
