    The cause:

    After reading your post, i know that this is because module request is not publiced in over the world. I have 2 suggests as follow, this is the cause which is getting the error:

     npm install request -g

    Whether should this set up it in /usr/loca/bin? because it do not exsit.

    sudo npm link /usr/local/lib/node_modules/request -> /Users/soulsonic/dev/sandbox/node_test/request

    Terminal was started again after each command but the error is still existed.

    The solution:

    Access the project directory.

    mkdir TestProject
    cd TestProject

    Make it to your root’s project.

    npm init --yes

    Set necessary npm modules and save them as project dependencies.

    npm install request --save
    /* Your code... */

    Create a test.js file in project directory with code from package example:

    var request = require('request');
    request('http://www.google.com', function (error, response, body) {
    if (!error && response.statusCode == 200) {
    console.log(body); // Print the google web page.
    }
    });

    It must be similarly this:

    TestProject/
    - node_modules/
    - package.json
    - test.js

    Finally, run Node from your project directory.

    node test.js
