What is happening? My iOS software works smoothly in Xcode one moment, then crashes completely with a mysterious SIGABRT message “thread 1: signal sigabrt”. I’ve tried several things, but nothing has worked. To fix it, I need your advice. Thanks.

The cause: An error or typo in your outlets, like the following, is a frequent source of “Signal SIGABRT.”

    • You put up a new view controller in Interface Builder with a few UI components, such as buttons and labels.
    • You used outlet properties to connect these UI components to your code.
    • You altered the name of the first outlet property at one point.

Solution: There are two options to solve above causes:

    • You give the property its original name once more.
    • By utilizing the new outlet property name, you rejoin the outlet connection after removing it in Interface Builder.

Moreover, when an exception occurs, Exception Breakpoints are helpful for testing the code. It can be established as follows:

    1. Utilize the tabs on the left of Xcode to access the Breakpoint Navigator.
    2. Choose Exception Breakpoint by selecting the bottom-left + button.
    3. Despite the fact that they can be customized, leave the default settings remain.
    4. Run your program
