How to update Xcode from command line Tools?

I get an error message xcode-select: error: command line tools are already installed, use "Software Update" to install updates when I try to run the following command line

xcode-select --install

I run this command line to update Xcode update from the command line. How to fix the error?

    The effective way that I have used is to uninstall the old version and install the new version. Here are command line I used to update xcode command line

    // removing the old xcode command line tools
    sudo rm -rf /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools
    // install new version of the tools
    xcode-select --install
