Reaction rate is based upon the temperatures at where the reaction is carried out. The rate law that illustrates how variables affect the rate, takes the form of
rate = k[A]x[B]y
where k is the rate constant, A and B are reactants and x and y are experimentally determined exponents. Temperature doesn’t affect the amount of reactants present, which means that the temperature will not alter to alter the constant of rate. The effect of temperature on the rate constant is illustrated by the Arrhenius equation
k=Ae−Ea/RT
where A is the frequency factor, Ea is the activation energy, R is the gas constant and T is the absolute temperature. Thus, by monitoring the rate constant over different temperatures , the frequency coefficient as well as activation energie can be measured.
