Human Ovum is created from zygote stem cells which are contained within an ovary. Every cell divides several times, resulting in a number of smaller cells known as oocytes.

Each sperm is a carrier of 23 different chromosomes i.e. 50% of the DNA needed to make up a human (23 pair) thus it is known as a the haploid cell. Human sperm cells are comprised of a head that is 5µm (5 millimeters) long, and an elongated tail of 50µm. Because of its whip-shaped tail the sperm can travel between 1-3 millimeters/minute.
