Ideas for ssize_t library c: ssize_t is similar to size_t, and it’s a standard C library. One difference is that ssize_t operates on bytes while size_t operates on numbers. The other main difference is that ssize_t can handle values up to 4294967295 while size_t can only handle them up to 2147483648.

    In short, ssize_t is the same as size_t, but is a signed type - read ssize_t as “signed size_t”.
 ssize_t is able to represent the number -1, 
 which is returned by several system calls and library functions as a way to indicate error.
