The cause: This occurs while installing a certificate for the first time or installing a certificate that was created on a different system.

Solution: You can fix with below steps:

    1. Changing your root CA from Key Chain Access.
    2. View in System/ Login key chains, which certificate authority is being utilized as a signer for the certificate for your personal provisioning profile.
    3. Entering a valid CA certificate and now you can proceed.

If none of these solutions work, you can add intermediate signing certificates to the system keychain. This happened to me while I was trying manually to create provisioning profiles/certificates. It was happening from the Create New Certificate step in the New Provisioning Profile process.

To use your certificates, you must have the intermediate signing certificate in your system keychain. This is automatically installed by Xcode. However, if you need to reinstall the intermediate signing certificate click the link below:
Worldwide Developer Relations Certificate Authority (Expiring 02/07/2023)
Worldwide Developer Relations Certificate Authority (Expiring 02/20/2030)

These two files were downloaded and double-clicked to add them to the system keychain. The automatic provisioning profile in xcode began working after I completed the manual provisioning process.
