♦ Relevant knowledge

If a capacitor that is charged is connected to a resistor, forming an circuit that discharges RC the rate of depletion of the charge in the capacitor is determined by how long the constant in the circuit. Charge decreases exponentially as time passes.

    The time constant for discharge through resistance of capacitor is:
    T=RC

    because euqation discharge

    The equivalent resistance is R = 2*1×103 =2000 O
    => The time constant: T = R*C = 2000*1×10-6 =2×10-3 S = 2 ms

    Given
    R1 = 1 kO

    R2 = 1kO

    C = 1 mF

    R1 and R2 can be connected by seriescombination

    R = R1+R2 = 2 kO =200

    timeconstant t = R C = 200 * 10

    -6

    = 2*10

    -3
