Balancing Chemical Equations: Chemical reactions follow laws of conservation of mass. To be able to effectively represent both the quantitative as well as qualitative aspects that chemical reactions have the chemical equation has to be balanced. That is the amount of elements along both sides of the arrow must be exactly the same.

    This reaction results in N2Cl4 & CH4 reacting to produce H2,CCl4 & N2.

    You can balance a chemical reaction by counting the number of atoms for each side and then adding the appropriate coefficients to equalize them.

    Answer: CH4 + N2Cl4 → N2 + CCl4 + 2H2
