I am working on git, but I found the following warning message:

You have not concluded your merge (MERGE_HEAD exists).
 Please, commit your changes before you can merge.

Is there any way to stabilize the issue “you have not concluded your merge (merge_head exists)”? I read a lot of topics about this, but all of them were trying to install anything. Is this the correct way, or any recommendation for me? Please find the beginning command below:

git pull
git status
you have not concluded your merge

    The cause:

    This error happened because your previous pull did not merge automatically, and resulted in conflict state. The conflict was not resolved before the next pull. Therefore, you get the error: ”you have not concluded your merge (merge_head exists)”.

    Solution:

    Let’s follow these steps to solve your error:

    1. You have to undo the merge, then pull it again.

    The way to undo a merge:

    git merge --abort [Since Git version 1.7.4]

    git reset --merge [Previous versions of git]

    2. Handle the conflict which happened.

    3. Remember to add and commit the merge.

    4. Now git pull can run well.

  2. If you’re certain that you have resolved all merger conflicts, 

    rm -rf .git/MERGE*

    The error will be corrected.
