The peaks in the IR Spectra are:
- a) 3020cm-1: sp2 C-H stretching for benzene
- b) 2950cm-1: sp3 C-H stretching for CH2 group (alkane)
- c)1685cm-1: C=O stretching for carbonyl group
Among the given structures only B and F qualify. But for B aldehyde C-H stretching at around 2700 -2600 is absent.
So, structure F fits for the IR spectra.

It is our spectra and has a peak out of a single peak at 16.85 and then that’s kind of about it for my guides, here, right. That’s the only thing it says here: I have some peaks here and some peaks here. But it’s a bit more rough so I can’t really determine what these peaks are. It says which compound matches the spectrum above and these are all the compounds you can get. So one here has two alkenes and a romine. B has a bit of a benzene group with a hydroxyl so it’s a phenol group with some kind of methyl sticking out. C is a ketone. D is a cyclohexane group with three ketones that are sticking out of it. E here is a heterocyclic group with a nitrogen and a carbonyl group. And F is a kind of ketone group bonded with two benzenes here.
Parker brothers groups had a sharp peak, a sharp single peak at about 1700. So this here is basically a sharp single at around 1700 cm minus one. So this here is very indicative of a carbonyl group so I can eliminate basically all these. So it’s basically B C D or E or F. This is a good structure. D E F has ketone groups. So it belongs to a ketone. So 1685 is a ketone so I think 1700 is actually an aldehyde but both of them are very very similar in terms of the carbon peak. So I’m going to say this here is a sharp peak at 1685, is a ketone and I think 1700 is the aldehyde. I believe 1700 is the aldehyde. So this is a ketone group, which means this one here is an aldehyde. B is an aldehyde so that’s incorrect . Only basically D E F have ketones and then here the peak above 3 000 centimeters represents an allylic group right or there is a double -C-H. Therefore the correct answer here is F.
So again you see this kind of little peak at 3000 is represented. I believe this is an alkane group, not a double bond. So if it’s an alkane group then I don’t have an alkane for D E. It’s a heterocyclic group for E and D here is an alkane group but it’s a cyclic group as well so basically the only option left is F here because it represents the -C-H group.
